The location is charming (on a typical narrow Roman street) and also very convenient for walking to the best parts of Rome. We loved having the spaciousness of this apartment available to us after a busy day of sightseeing. Mauro's assistance with transportation was invaluable, and he's great with restaurant recommendations, too! We hated to leave this great place.

Overall Rating : Best Christine pennsylvania, usa: This apartment is a wonderful place to stay in Rome, right in the city's lively heart. The rooms are large and comfortable. Just up the street is Campo dei Fiori with its open-air market, plus bakeries and grocery stores in the side streets, so shopping for food is a joy. Cafes and restaurants are all around if you want to eat out.It's an easy walk to Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, and we walked to the Vatican, the Forum, and many other sites as well.A really special thing about this rental is the personal attention throughout, thanks to Mauro and his wife we especially appreciated being met at the airport and driven to the apartment. If you want to feel part of Roman life the daytime life of the shops and market stalls, the night life of the restaurants and piazzas this is the place for you

Therese Attard (Toronto) Great Service-Perfect Location-Wonderful Apartment. Thanks goes to Mauro Sacchetta for helping to make a weeks vacation in Rome as good as it could be. We were met at the train station, driven to our beautiful apartment in the historical centre of Rome, had our luggage carried and given the assurance that any help we needed was only a phone call away. The apartment had everything you needed to make you feel at home. It was a very charming apartment, clean and comfortable. When it was time leave Mauro was at the door at 6:45 Sunday morning to drive us to the airport. Along the way he insisted that he take us for a Roman breakfast. We couldn't have asked for more. We will be sure to contact Mauro again for our next trip to Rome.

Overall Rating : Best Andrea Minneapolis, MN A trip of a lifetime - largely in part to the great accomodations and Mauro's recommendations and hospitality. Mauro provided tons of information to us on-line which helped us plan our trip. It was great not having to navigate transportation from the airport after arriving pretty tired. The apartment gave us a feel of "real" Rome - coming and going on the cobblestone street with other Romans. The location is great - fresh fruit from the market every morning with a cappucino! Two couples stayed in the apartment with no privacy problems. There was a room divider which let us create two bedrooms. Highly recommended and we'd return!

Apartment in Rome My family of five (children 14, 11 and 9) returned from a wonderful trip to Italy and I wanted to share a few highlights from the trip. We left May 30 and flew into FCO-- which incidentally is a long way from the tourist sites in Rome. We were fortunate to have booked our apartment through Mauro (email at mauro@team-shock.it) and were so happy to see his smiling face and placard at the baggage claim! Mauro was an excellent reference point for us in Rome and a real gentleman that offers exceptional service at a good value. He picked us up and dropped us back at the airport between our stay at our lovely apartment at via del pellegrino 81. The drive to the apt. was peppered with interesting insights about Rome. We paid 680 Euro for 4 nights which included transportation to and from the airport which would have easily been at least 50 Euro each way for the five of us. Also, for five of us-- we would have had to rent two hotel rooms at most locations for quite a bit more—so we were very pleased with the accommodations. Mauro also gave us a cell phone that we could use to contact him at any time and we gave it out to family back stateside before we left if they needed to contact us. The apartment we rented was clean and a marvelous location, situated equal distance from the Vatican, Coliseum, and Pantheon. Mauro also was a great source for booking top-notch guides at the Forum, Vatican and for a stroll around Rome that included a church and the Pantheon (Flavia, Fabio and Serena were terrific as all three spoke great English and each had Ph.D's in archeology). The final note on the apartment was that it was two blocks from Campo di Fiori-- a wonderful square filled with excellent restaurants. Our apartment was also less than a block from a local grocery where we stocked up for breakfast, lunch goods and beverages. We had tacked on this four night stay in Rome to a Mediterranean cruise at the last moment-- so Mauro's help in arranging quality guides was a key positive for us. Our first day we visited the Forum with our guide Flavia. It was a wonderful, hot day in Rome and we spent about 4 hours there before the short walk to Coliseum. The Forum continues to grow as new archaeological teams expand the site through the years. Flavia had herself participated in one of the recent digs which made it more interesting in some respects for our children. We also took in the Capital Line Museum. Flavia left us after an overview of the Coliseum and we were all so thankful to have had her wonderful insights as made our way through the Forum. The coliseum was an hour or hour and a half well spent before venturing back to Campo Fiori for a magnificent family style Italian meal where we split a few appetizers and a few entrees between the five of us. I was prepared for the worse in terms of expense in Rome-- but the restaurants at Camp Fiori were a decent value for the quality of food with entrees running about $15-18 each. The next morning our guide, Serena met us at the apartment and we set out through a very light drizzle through the side streets of Rome on our way to the unforgettable Pantheon. On the way, we stopped in at a Church to view a wonderful Caravaggio painting that Serena was familiar with. She told the story of the painting in such detail that we were all captivated by the nuances she explained. Then we wandered through "story filled" streets with our guide to the famous Pantheon-- an amazing precursor of the basilica-styled churches and an astronomical wonder. After a tour at the Pantheon, Serena walked us to Trevi Fountain at which we through a few coins before heading back to the apartment for lunch. After a quick lunch we headed over to the Vatican to meet our guide Fabio-- a guide that was second to none. Fabio knew the Vatican inside out and spoke perfect English. The Raphael room was a highlight for sure but the entire tour was unbelievable. Fabio was patient enough with our children but also had an amazing knowledge of the art works and history that could keep my wife and I on our toes. We ended the tour with a walk through St. Peters—where we had worshipped the previous Sunday before walking out through the square and bidding Fabio farewell. The next morning we got up intending to try to get in stand bye at the Borghese Gallery. Unfortunately, the Gallery was closed due to Independence Day celebrations in Rome. We walked through the lovely grounds and wandered our way to Villa Medici, which was also closed due to the French Ambassador's luncheon there later that day. The good news is that we were not far from the Spanish Steps and the Trinity Church. We took in both before a nice luncheon at the bottom of the stairs. From there we grabbed the Metro and stopped a few stops later at St. Mary Marjorie Church, which had amazing art and sculptures. After the church, we grabbed a bus out of the city to the Catacombs and the Apian Way. The catacombs were interesting and it was nice to take in a bit of the Roman countryside on the Apian Way—the original road in and out of Rome-before returning back to the center city and our apartment. The next morning Mauro was at our apartment in plenty of time for us to make the flight from FCO to Athens where we caught our cruise. Overall Rating : Best Eugene Rostkowski Via del Pellegrino,Rome My wife and I spent our first visit to Rome in this apartment. It could not have ben more perfect. From the moment we booked the apartment through the internet, the manager promised we would not be disappointed, and he did not let us down. We were picked up at the airport, a welcome trat after flying in from Los Angeles, and brought to the apartment in the heart of Rome. For the next ten days we became citizens of Rome. The Vatican, the Pantheon, the Coliseum and the Forun are all less than a ten minute walk away. City buses, and Tour buses going to the catacombs and other sites, are less than 100 yards from the apartment. Piazza Navona is less than five minutes away, and Campo de Fiori is just down the street. Great restaurants, trattorias and pizzerias are all in this historic neighborhood. Folow Mauro's recommendations and you can't go wrong. The apartment is spacious, very comfortable and a great bargain. You can cook full meals or enjoy the many restaurants in the area. You can make breakfast, or have an espresso or cappuccino just two doors away. The experience was a joy from the time Mauro picked us up, to the time he dropped us off at the airport. We actually felt sorry for the people who had to go to their hotel at the end of each day. We had much better accommodations, at 1/3 the cost, with the added luxury of Maur's advise, experience, and recommendations. This apartment is a winner and we wait for a further visit to Rome.

Rome vacation This apartment was home for my wife and I and our granddaughter in May, 2007, and provided a wonderful base to see Rome. Great location, and really roomy. The biggest plus, however, is Mauro. He picks you up at the airport, introduces you to the apartment, and delivers you to the train station/airport as you leave Rome. Mauro is the one who runs it, and he does a nice job. We just stayed there during the crazy rush of Rome during the Pope's funeral. In fact, Mauro picked us up at the train station the afternoon before the funeral, and then also took us to the airport although he only guarantees one ride for a short stay. He gave us a GSM cell phone and tips for restaurants. Despite being pretty busy with additional properties and additional jobs he works, he does a really nice job. We would stay in one of his apartments again, and recommend him to others. He kept his commitments to us even in a suddenly busy time in Rome. We even tried to give him a tip for all his trouble, but he would let us. Nice person. Nice place to stay. :-)

Apartment in Rome We stayed in a GREAT apartment in Rome - on Via Pellegrino, just two blocks from Campo Dei Fiori (by day a lovely square and market, by night a hot spot with great restaurants and people-watching). The apartment was extremely roomy - with plenty of space for my daughter and me, plus my best friend and her daughters. It was very comfortable and charming. We loved that fact that we were staying in the same building as Italian families, and enjoyed seeing them come and go. We imagined we fit right in! Mary Madison, MS USA 03/23/2006 I agree wholeheartedly with Judi's comments below as to Mauro Sacchetta Cali and the whole apartment experience. My family and I just returned from a week in Rome staying at the via del Pellegrino (81) apartment. It was a comfortable, clean, spacious (for Europe) place conveniently located in the Jewish Ghetto area. Mauro was waiting to pick us up at the airport and upon arriving at the apartment, briefed us on local restaurants, sightseeing, emergency assistance (the cell phone he provides with his number programmed in), as well as 'nice to know' info. He showed us the local grocery (P.S.: one of the younger guys behind the meat counter speaks a bit of English)and made sure we were situated before leaving. The apartment has a German washing machine and we figured out how to use it (yippee!) as we'd packed light. The satelite t.v. was great considering my two teenagers occasional need for something non-cultural! The location is great and within walking distance to many sites. Mauro transported us back to the airport bright and early a week later. It was nice to not have to worry about taxis, etc. I'd highly recommend contacting Mauro should you wish to experience Rome from a comfortable, easy to use apartment. Our trip was trouble free and fabulous!

Leon Halpern It is a moral obligation to emphasize good things to stimulate a reputation and this is the case. At the beginning of October 2001, I, my wife and our 3 children were visiting Rome and stayed at this apartment Via of the Pellegrino. The property is located in a very privileged location and allows you to live in Rome as a Roman. The market is nearby, and the bus stop is very close so that it connects you with the whole city. The apartment is just as is described in the listing, very comfortable and with all the utensils necessary. Finally, it goes without saying that the manager Mauro is fantastic. His explanations, instructions and suggestions are all excellent. He is always worried that all is well and his aid is constant during your whole stay in the apartment. He's always available by cell phone, is attentive to respond to any consultation, and that gives you great security to stroll the city. Es una obligación moral destacar las cosas buenas para estimular su repetición y este es el caso. A principios de Octubre del año 2001 estuvimos yo, mi señora y nuestros 3 hijos visitando Roma; y estuvimos en el apartamento Via del Pellegrino. La propiedad está ubicada en una situación muy privilegiada, que permite vivir en Roma como un romano, es decir al lado de un mercado y con parada de buses muy cerca que te conectan con toda la ciudad. El apartamento es tal como se describe en el prospecto, muy cómodo y con todos los utensilios necesarios. Por último, lo mas destacable es el dueño de casa; Mauro. Mike and Pat Canada 11/06/2007 Rome, Italy Rome We recently travelled to Italy to stay in Tuscany at a villa for a week and also a villa in Umbria. We had a wonderful time. The start of our trip was made so much easier because of Mauro from Underground Viaggi at website www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it. Our travel companions had contacted him regarding an apartment only to find out he also offers transportation to and from the airport. He also gives you a cell phone to contact him if needed. We stayed in the Pellegrino apartment for a few nights on our arrival. On our return to Rome we were picked up at the train station even though we were coming in earlier than expected. We stayed at the Malpasso for two nights before returning home. Both apartments were in excellent locations close to all the attractions and restaurants. I cannot imagine visiting Rome without the helpful service that Mauro provided. We would glady recommend his service to our friends.

Apartments in Rome Some friends and I have stayed in private apartments in Rome that were rented by Mauro. Like Angela I thought that the reviews about him could not be as good as stated. But we found out that all that is said about him and the apartments is true. The price, location and the real "Rick Steves like" experience is an added bonus for those of us who like to rub elbow's with the local people when we stay in another country. Most of the friends I was with were visiting Rome for the first time. The pick up at the airport that is a part of the apartment cost is a real bonus. We arrived tired and when we saw how far out of town the airport was we were happy to have someone with a car to drive us and the luggage right to the apartment door. Everything about this apartment is wonderful! We loved the location, on a narrow street off the Campo de Fiori, right in the middle of Rome's historic old center. The apartment was spacious, charming and clean. Mauro, the manager, and his wife were very friendly and dependable, making it much easier to relax and enjoy bella roma. They provided transport to and from the airport, and were available to us throughout the entire stay, lending us a cell phone so we could contact them if we needed to. They truly felt like good friends, and we've been missing both them and the apartment ever since we left.

Overall Rating : Best Steven Lieske Minneapolis, MN Our group of four friends stayed in the apartment the first week of April 2001. The apartment, location, and service were all fantastic! While Piazza Navona is more well known, the apartment is just down the street from the Piazza Campo dei Fiori, which is a great place to relax at night with wine, coffee, or gelato. In the mornings it has a market. Just off the other side of the Campo are several blocks of clothing shops. Everyone we met in the area was extremely friendly and helpful. This is the place to stay if you want to experience the real Rome rather than just be a tourist.

Mauro was able to find us accommodations for our family of five in the desirable center city during one of the busiest tourist weeks of the year, Holy week. The accommodations were perfect for what we told Mauro I wanted. Mauro also acted as our host during that week. He was able to provide us just the right amount of attention with out being intrusive. Cindy Rochester, NY USA 07/28/2005 Rome apartment - Camp de Fiori Here is a Rome apartment review that I posted on a slowtrav.com. I thought it might be helpful to people on here too. We were in Rome with our 2 teens the last week in June 2005. We loved renting an apartment! It was great! This apartment is on a street right off of Campo de Fiori. We loved the area. They are all 16th century buildings. The Campo de Fiori area has lots of restaurants, and you are a close walk to Trastevere (for even better and cheaper restaurants). It felt safe, but you do have to be careful with cars as the street is very narrow. While very convenient to all the tourist areas, it did not feel like it was "crawling" with tourists, if you know what I mean. In the Campo de Fiori piazza are lots of cafes, a daily market for produce etc., and there are plenty of stores for cheese, sandwiches, wine, or whatever. There is a grocery store down the street. They had everything you could possibly need. There is a taxi stand nearby and the bus stops are close. (Although we walked everywhere except to the Vatican.) The building was wonderfully historical. The apartment was very nicely decorated and, surprise, surprise, IT WAS BIG! I really was expecting a much smaller place. It had two living rooms with compfortable couches and antique pieces. The beds were comfy. (The ceiling in the loft space with the twin beds is a little low but even my 6'5' son didn't mind it.) The kitchen appeared to be well equiped (I didn't cook.) The large bathroom had hot water on demand and all the plumbing worked great. The apt is on the European first floor (so it's up one story from the street). It seemed to be very secure. The large windows looked right out on the street, which we loved. It had outer shutters which did a good job keeping out the sun and it had inner shutters too. The air conditioning worked well (we only had it on 3 days). Understand though, this is in a very old building on a very old street. You will really feel like you are in Rome, but you will not feel like you are at the Plaza Hotel. Living room number one had 2 new couches (comfortable and clean) and a cot kind of thing. It had a kitchen table that had 10 chairs. All furniture was sturdy and much of it was nice quality antiques. Living room number two had a comfortable couch and two comfortable chairs. The apartment was clean. The large bed downstairs was very comfortable and had nice sheets. I didn't try out the upstairs beds, but I didn't hear any complaints from my kids. The bathroom is large with lots of towel bars and room for everyone to have their toiletries in there. As I said previously, there was hot water on demand. There is also a washing machine (no dryer) in the bathroom, but it is all written in German, so a little vague on how to use that. THere is also a large drying rack which worked great. Iron and ironing board, hair dryer, lots of supplies available. Kitchen had a large refrigerator/freezer. Honestly - that's all we used - but it looked like there was probably plenty of stuff to cook with if you were so inclined. The street is a busy place. There are voices, motorcycles, cars, and some music. It gets busy at night. I personally loved it, but if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs. With the windows closed, or the air conditioning on, you really don't hear anything. A great thing about this apartment is that Mauro picks you up at the airport and brings you back. It was super convenient. He also provides you with a cell phone. We rented from Mauro Sacchetta Cali. He was great and very friendly. He picked us up promptly and had his son drive us back to the airport. He showed us where to eat and where the grocery store was. I called him a couple times and he helpfully answered my questions. We paid 1150e for seven nights, which I thought was a very good deal. We would definitely rent this apt again, but I suspect it will be a long time before we get back to Rome. If you want to feel like you are actually living someplace you can't beat renting an apartment. If you are the type who likes concierge services, a door man, bell hop, and vallet parking you probably won't be happy renting an apt. Our favorite restaurants were Pierluigi (Piazza de Ricci - very close, need reservations), Al Fontanone (46 Piazza Trilussa) and Da Gildo (31 Via della Scala) (both in Trastevere). We also ate at Insalata Ricci (85 L. go dei Chiavani - very close, good, cheap), La Carbonara (in Campo de Fiori - nice atmosphere and very close by, quite good food), Hostario Giulio (19 via della Barchetta - decent). Mauro recommended a great looking restaurant called Al Ciack at 21 Vicolo dei Cinque (also in Trastevere) which looked great but my youngest son panicked when he looked at the menu. We would have loved to have eaten there. The other restaurant we missed that has RAVE reviews everywhere is Al Bric, which is between the apt and Campo de Fiori on the right hand side of the street. For some reason, we never made it there either. We bought cheese annd bread every day from a shop on one of the corners of Campo de Fiori. Also bought fruit there in the morning. We liked the baked goods at Il Fornaio, 5/7 Via dei Baullari. There is a sandwich/pizza place very close to the apt on Via Pellegrino that we also bought food at.

Vacation in RomeI'm always suspicious of these reviews so I read only one of Mauro's before I went to Rome, I can't believe that I am now contributing to a review!!! I have to say, even from the communication I had via email with Mauro I had a good feeling about him, when we met at the airport that feeling was confirmed by first impression and grew to the unbelieveable in the next hour and a half as he drove us to the appartment. He gave us a tour of the area pointing out eating places, shopping etc., we stopped and bought a map on which he showed us loads of places of interest. He took such time and attention to make sure we were secure and informed! The apartment was lovely, in a friendly area. Nothing seems to be too much for this man, he is determined to ensure that his guests are comfortable and will get the best out of their holiday! Phyllis Lawson Austin, Texas My husband and I chose this apartment for our stay in Rome during January 12-26, 2000. It was our honeymoon and the owners of this apartment, Mauro and Giulia, were amazing! They went way beyond the call of duty as far as hosts go. They would offer their services to us at any time of the day, and helped us with pointers about the city. Having never been there before, my husband and I were so grateful for that! The apartment was perfect. It has a double bed, a bureau, a bathroom, and a fully stocked kitchen. The location is about a 12 minute walk from the Vatican and the subway station is even closer. Diane Coquitlam, BC Canada 06/27/02 Rome Apartment Company Although renting an apartment in Rome might seem rather boring, its the extra services provided by this company that makes the stay so special. The owner's philosophy of "arrive as a visitor and leave as a friend" became a reality for us. The company is Underground Viaggi ( www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it) and they offer the most comprehensive services I was able to find for such a reasonable price. We stayed at an apartment named "Emo" for the Via Angelo Emo just behind the Vatican (several other locations are available). Minimum stay is 3 nights. Our apartment was only a block from the Metro station and a short walk to the Vatican. A nice quiet, safe area to walk and not in the heart of noisy areas, but close enough to walk to them. The website has photographs and a map of all available apartments. Behind a locked gated courtyard EMO is a scrupulously clean and quiet one bedroom - comfortable queen bed, with additional sleeping for two children, a kitchen and bathroom with shower. Air-conditioning and English Satellite TV are provided. All for $250 US dollars, we couldn't find anything comparable for the price in Rome. The extra services provided by the owner/manager and his wife are exceptional - they personally pick you up upon arrival (airport, train, whatever) and drop you off upon departure (that's worth a few euros for taxis, the stress of figuring out the train trip or getting to and from your accommodation, especially after a long flight); they provide you with a cell phone for use while in Rome and are on-call 24/7 for any problems (from getting lost to needing a doctor); they give you a quick tour of the area around your apartment and tell you the location of local services - grocery shopping, restaurants, the Metro, etc.

But did you ever think you might be able to do it? My partner and I stayed in this apartment 11/11-10/18/2000 and were happy to experience life outside of the tourist district. From beginning to end we were extremely pleased with our stay and will definately go back. Upon arriving in Rome Mauro picked us up from the airport and drove us to the apartment, along the way pointing out sites of interest, even taking a brief tour of the neighborhood showing us the grocery store, breakfast bar, restaurants, subway station, route to the Vatican, etc. The apartment was a ten minute walk from the Vatican where we visited the Vatican Museum, participated in an Audience with the Pope, and walked to the top of St. Peters. We had done a lot of planning for the trip and knew most of what we wanted to see, all of which were easily accessible by subway which we paid approx $6 for the week and was one block from the apartment. During our entire stay we never once had to take a taxi! Mauro and his wife proved to be extremely knowledgable about the city and were eager to share their wealth of information, inclucing taking us to one of the few restaurants serving traditional Roman food. Overall I give our experience with Mauro a 10+ and would recommed it to anyone. I do have to mention that this particular apartment is small and comforatable for two people but probably not more. Overall Rating : Great Geri Marturano Clinton Twp., Michigan: My husband and I vacationed in Italy in early July, 2001. While in Roma we stayed at the apartment on Emo. Mauro and his wife were extremely gracious hosts and made themselves available to us at all times. We were met at the airport and taken to the train station when we went on to Firenze. We really appreciated that unexpected kindness. The location of the apartment which is very near to the Metro Station's Vatican stop was great place for us to stay. We were also provided with a whole drawer full of maps, restaurant menu and other useful guides that made our stay in the fabulous city of Roma quite a pleasurable experience.

Overall Rating : Best Jim and Diane Bartoo My wife and I spent a very enjoyable week in Mauro's apartment in Rome ,4 April 01 through 10 April 01. We have read the many glowing recommendation posted to this site and we agree with and endorse all of them.There is little that we can add. The apartment was as advertised and everything worked. Mauro\'s was the only apartment we rented in Italy that provided television in English. Mauro provided timely transportation to and from the airport and train station, along with helpful tourist information and suggestions along the way. One incident stands out as an illustration of Mauro\'s concern.During our stay my wife, Diane, developed a severe toothache. I telephoned Mauro (on the cell phone he provided for us) while he was at work to obtain a recommendation for an English speaking dentist.Mauro\'s unhesitating response was that he would come immediately, provide transportation and whatever else was needed. Fortunately, we were able to resolve the situation without Mauro\'s having to leave work but we really appreciated the offer. All I can say is that we had a wonderful time and highly recommend this rental when visiting Rome. This was due to the apartment and its location as well as the agent responsible for the property, Mauro Sacchetta Cali, and his wife Guilia.Mauro picked us up at the airport, provided us with a cellular phone to use during our time in Rome, and gave us tips on where to eat and shop. He was available 24/7 if we had any questions. Mauro and Giulia also recommend places to visit outside of Rome, which is just what we did. The location of the apartment is great. It is within walking distance to the Vatican, restaurants, shops and a Metro stop. The ice cream shop (gelateria) nearby on Via A. Elmo (by the steps to the Vatican) serves heavenly ice cream, and is a must visit for any ice cream lover. The area around the apartment is safe and quiet at night. Overall, the apartment, and Mauro and Guilia's hospitality made our visit to Rome a very enjoyable one.

What a wonderful, and importantly - affordable, stay. Everybody went well out of their way to make my stay perfect. I was met at the airport and delivered safely to the apartment which was a great help and convenience to say the least. The apartment is a great size, with all the amenities and privacy, but is located right in the middle of everything. The neighborhood is fantastic, the apartment is beautiful and perfectly situated to shopping, the Vatican and Vatican Museum, and the subway (and every other area of Rome, via the subway). The restaurants, pizzerias and bars in the immediate vicinity are terrific. I couldn't have had a better stay Mauro couldn't have been more helpful, and I will certainly be returning to this apartment and look forward to my next visit to Rome. MindyD Oklahoma City, OK USA 10/31/01 Great Hospitality In An Apartment In Rome My husband and I just returned from my first trip to Italy. For the first 3 days, I booked an apartment in Rome after searching the internet. I choose www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it, just going by their reviews from other customers and the pictures from their website, just hoping it would turn out ok. What a wonderful experience! This small company is managed by the most wonderful people. Their services included picking us up at the airport, a real relief after a long flight, and use of a cell phone while in Rome. On our departure day they took us back to the airport to pick up a rental car (7 days touring Tuscany)and told us everything we needed to do to find the rental desk, dumb tourist that we were! They manage about 10 apartments properties in Rome and some soon in Florence. We paid $80.00 per night for a small, nicely furnished apartment by the Vatican. I would DEFINITELY recommend these folks. It was really like having a friend in Rome to help you with anything. I can't wait to go back and will e-mail Mauro and Guila to rent another accomodation as soon as we set the travel date.

Attractiveness : 8 - great Overall Rating : 9 - outstanding Sarah Hinojosa Houston, Texas My husband and I stayed at this property from September 17-21, 2000 and could not have picked a better place to stay.We were met at the airport by Mauro and what a relief that was, having never been to Rome, or Europe for that matter it was so nice to have someone meet us at the airport and drive us to our apartment. Mauro was a very gracious host and went above and beyond the call of duty. He provided us with a cell phone and told us to call anytime, day or night if we ever ran into trouble or needed help in getting somewhere. The location was excellent for seeing all the major sites. Right around the corner from the Vatican Museum, St. Peter's Square and walking distance to just about anywhere. The apartment is also located about 2 blocks from the subway station which was so easy to catch and get you to those destinations which were just beyond walking distance. The apartment was quaint and charming and was all you needed to be comfortable. The apartment is perfect for two, with a small kitchenette containing a stove, sink and refrigerator, it enabled us to cook a small meal instead of eating out, or simply enjoy wine and cheese as an appetizer. Being a first timer in Rome and in Europe, I cannot imagine having received better hospitality, or meeting people as friedly, accomodating, and genuinely happy to meet you as Mauro and Giulia were. It is nice to know that when we return to Rome, we have friends waiting for us. I would not think twice about staying at this property again.

We'll stay there when we go back. It's really close to the Vatican and to a Metro stop. The neighborhood is good with a bakery/grocery store almost next door to the left, a nice family restaurant almost next door to the right, a couple of gelaterias (ice cream), and at least three ATM machines that are really close. The area is not luxurious, but is safe and quiet at night. You'll enjoy your stay and the savings (since there's a grocery store nearby and you'll have a full kitchen, you'll save tons of lire on food too!). My brother and his wife, and my parents, are planning a visit to Rome and I will strongly recommend this apartment to them.Mauro and his wife picked us up from the train station, and were always extremely nice and a pleasure to deal with. Ask him for a schedule of the buses passing nearby the apartment--the metro doesn't cover all of the interesting areas (but this a problem no matter where in Rome you stay). You'll enjoy your stay! Going to Rome for the first time on our honeymoon this past July 2002, was made an even more wonderful experience because of the efforts of Mauro Sacchetta Cali ( www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it). We discovered Mauro through the Graffiti Wall. It will be difficult to ad anything new that hasn't been written on these pages by others that have had the pleasure of meeting Mauro, but I'll try. Rather than stay in a hotel, we decided to try one of the apartments that Mauro manages; this, based upon the excellent feedback we had read from a number of very satisfied customers. First, the apartment. The Emo is located on the Via Angelo Emo within both a short walk of the Vatican and Metro station. Walk through the gated courtyard and you leave the street noise behind you. We found the apartment to be perfect for our honeymoon! A very comfortable queen-sized bed allows you to relax in air-conditioned comfort(the air conditioning has to be the best in Italy... AWESOME!). The kitchen is very ample for light cooking and the refridgerator kept our wine cold! This very clean apartment also has a nice bathroom and shower. A satellite tv rounds out the amenities(yes...some channels in English). The cost at the time we went was about$80(US) a night. Truly, an excellent value for Rome---I don't believe you will find better! But the apartment really was secondary to the services that Mauro and his wife Giulia provided. They picked us up from the airport and drove us to the apartment. All along the way, he gave us advice about what to see and where to go...all of this in very well-spoken English (Mauro, if you read this, I truly mean it as a complement!). Before leaving, Mauro gave us several maps of the city and a cell phone for our use while in Rome. His instructions were simple---"if you need anything, call me!" Before leaving Rome for Cinque Terre, Mauro went out of his way to take care of our train ticketing. Being less than fluent in Italian, we definitely appreciated this. By the time we said goodbye, my bride and I felt that we not only had seen some of the best that Rome had to offer, but had met some of it's best in both Giulia and Mauro. Whenever I think of our trip to Italy, I think of our great stay in Rome; a stay that was made so much nicer by our friends Mauro and Giulia. If you're planning a trip to Italy, please do yourself a favor and see if Mauro at Underground Viaggi can help. His professionalism, candor, and wicked sense of humor will make you appreciate that you did!!! I can honestly say that we will not go back to Italy without checking to see if Mauro has any openings. Overall Rating : Nice Maura Madigan Dubai, Middle East: As most reviewers have noted, Mauro was very helpful and willing to go out of his way to make my husband, daughter and I feel comfortable. On our first morning there, he drove us to the Porta Portese with his family. The apartment was clean and adequately furnished. The living room, however, can only accommodate two people comfortably as there is only a love seat and hard-backed chairs. The area is superb, a real Italian neighborhood, not too touristy. There's a market down the street and great restaurants and shopping. The building itself is architecturally interesting, dating to the 16th century. We stayed there in July and had problems with heat. The apartment has no AC or fan, so we had to keep the windows open at night. The apartment overlooks a garage, so it was very noisy and difficult to sleep. Mauro has informed me that the owners are installing AC for next summer, so this should take care of both problems. Overall the apartment was fine, definitely more convenient and cheaper than staying in a hotel.

Overall Rating : Outstanding LaurieC. Broz Atlanta, Georgia 30078: I have had the pleasure of staying at this property in February of 2001 and again in February of 2002, for a week's stay both times. My 80 year old Father accompanied me on both visits and found the elevator and one level apartment convenient and easy to get around in. The neighborhood is fabulous, if you are looking to see what Roman life is all about far from the maddening crowds of tourists this is the perfect area to stay in. The local restaurants, shops, and Regional Food Market are all wonderful and full of friendly Romans who go out of there way to make your experience even more pleasurable. The apartment is clean beyond one's highest expectations and what it lacks in luxurious furnishings it more than makes up for in charm, spaciousness and character. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is homey and the building is as quiet as any in a city atmosphere. There is a good laundromat on Via Scipioni which is about a 5 minute walk away. There is also a friendly Internet Point on Borgo Vittorio if you need such services. The area is very safe at night. We bought weekly transportation passes, good for one week's use on the bus, tram, and Metro, a good way to really see the city. Piazza Risorgimento (2 blocks away) is an ideal place to begin any cross-city journey, and the Metro stop is a mere 3 blocks away. St. Peter's was really the focal point of our visits so this apartment served our needs well, although getting into the Centro is only a short trip by publice transportation or a 20 minute walk dwon the Tiber. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who wants more space than what a hotel room offers; desires to see what daily Roman life is all about; and wishes to be in a location that is really within reach by all modes of transportation.

Overall Rating : Great Peter and Lynn Tutak Rome, Italy: Excellent accomodation. Close to the Vatican, the Ottaviano subway stop, some good restaurants, a produce market, shopping, and a fantastic gelateria (I think it's called Red Branch, but Mauro can show you), Pearl if Via dei Gracchi is in a pretty quiet neighborhood, and was a clean, comfortable, and convenient spot to base our travels into and around Rome from. We didn't feel like tourists--we felt like we were a part of the city. Mauro Sacchetta Cali was the most congenial host we have ever encountered in our travels, and a great deal of our vacation enjoyment we attribute to him. In addition to meeting us at the airport, Mauro arranged for dinner reservations for us (his recommendations are excellent), train tickets to Florence, and even shuttled us to the airport on returning to the airport via Rome. Our comfort and enjoyment were his main concern, and he consistently made us feel welcome, even checking in with us on the mobile to see if there was anything he could do to further that. PdVG is a great place to stay, made even better by a most hospitable host whose concern for your enjoyment and comfort is second to none. Thank you, Mauro ! Anayancy from California, USAWe (65-year-old mother and 6-year-old daughter) were in Italy in July and rented an apartment in Rome from Mauro at www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it. We enjoyed the experience of staying in this nice, quiet, and clean apartment close to the Vatican. We were able to walk from the apartment to the train station and the Vatican area, go to the market in the mornings, and enjoy a nice shopping and restaurant area. Our host, Mauro Sacchetta Cali, and his wife were pleasant, picked us up from the airport and dropped us off at the train station upon departure (we visited Florence, Venice, Lake Como and Monterroso); we also received a phone for use while in Rome. Mauro helped us to get excellent deals on train fares, recommended some nice restaurants in the area and gave us advice regarding our location. For our next trip to Rome, we would definitely look for Mauro's services again.

Our host and booking agent, Mauro, provided such terrific service that I was confident things would work out well, even before I departed. And everything worked out perfectly. The apartment came with a good price and no surprise charges. It even included a cell phone and transportation to and from the airport. Mauro was very timely and reliable, so there were no anxieties about missing flights. The apartment is beautifully situated in a lovely section, with numerous shops, restaurants, churches, and a wonderful market. It was a very easy walk to the metro, bus, and trolley. The Vatican was just a five or ten minute walk. I like walking, so I was also able to walk to many wonderful sites, such as Trevi Fountain, Castel Santangelo, Piazza Navonna, the Colloseum, and many others. The apartment was ideal for out group, with a lovely tile kitchen and bathroom, and comfortable bedrooms. I highly recommend Mauro Sacchetta Cali and his properties. You'll get fair pricing, honesty, and reliable service. And on top of that Mauro adds a personal touch that makes you feel like you have a friend in Rome!

After showing us the apartment and how everything worked, Mauro pointed out a good restaurant in the neighborhood, as well as the local market and a good shopping street. The apartment is immaculate and recently remodeled with a beautiful kitchen, bath and new tile floors - and it's in a perfect location - walking distance to many sights and easy access to public transportation. The building is quiet and well-kept. Mauro gave us a cell phone to use during our stay, and he was always accessible when we needed him. He even arranged for train tickets to Naples for us, and took us to the train station when we left. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a lot more room and flexibility than hotel accommodations afford - and at a lower cost! Mauro is a dream - helpful, accommodating and accessible. I will definitely contact him the next time I head for Rome!

Mauro, who we corresponded with, met us at the train station. He, then, took us to the appartment pointing out such things as good restaurants, banks, ATM's, Metro stops found in the immediate area. We met the owners of the appartment who proceeded to explain such things as how to put the stove on etc. They has instant coffee for us in the closet and a bottle of water, plenty of towels, blankets, pillows etc. The appartment was very, very clean, centrally located. It's a 5 minute walk to St Peter's, to the Metro, to the bus terminal. From this spot, we could take day trips to Florence, San Giovanni Rotondo, Pisa, etc. We did not need a car to go see the catacombs, the many beautiful churches of Rome, the Colosseum, Roman Forum, etc. Mauro provided us with a cell phone, in case we ever needed him for an emergency. Finally, after all this hospitality, he took all 3 of us to the airport after treating us to breakfast. I would highly recommend this appartment to anyone. The rooms are all very large and the beds are very comfortable. Do not hesitate to call or write to Mauro.

Roger and Patricia Loschen Lake Forest Park, WA USA 11/13/02 New Friends in Italy We have just returned from three weeks in Italy, rich in experiences and in new friends: our hosts in Rome, Florence and Camogli. Mauro manages several family accomodation in Rome. We had read good things about him on the Graffiti Wall, and everything we read was true, and more. Mauro's lovely wife, Giulia, met us at DaVinci Airport and drove us through the Rome traffic to our apartment near the Forum (Tor de Conte 2) where Mauro was waiting. He furnished us with a cell phone ("Call me for help anytime, 24/7"), maps, a bowl of fruit and even the basics of a pasta dinner in our own tiny, well-furnished kitchen. When it was time to leave, he drove us to the auto rental and made sure we were okay. We are so grateful for his thoughtfulness, and we are happy to join others in recommending his services. Mauro recommended a "very nice lady" near Florence, and so we met Graziella Camilloni at Il Poggiolo, her hillside farm with several hundred olive trees, three horses, three collie dogs and half a dozen cats. We stayed in a spacious flat in the main house; there's another in a detached building. Although the place has a rustic charm (See it at www.il-poggiolo.it/eng/htm), it had a sparkling bath and even a small refrigerator. Graziella served breakfast every morning, and even insisted on doing our laundry with her own. I used her computer to access our hotmail, with help from Airis, her college-student daughter. A son, Neri, is also a student. Il Poggiolo is about six kilometers from the city center. I got somewhat accustomed to negotiating the narrow streets in our rented Fiat Punto, but we found it convenient to park free on the street in suburban Careggi and take the bus to the Duomo for museum-going and sightseeing. However, two of the finest dining experiences of our trip were within minutes of Il Poggiolo, at I Ricchi and Dulcamara. Both were Graziella's recommendations. For us, the focus of our trip was the week in Camogli, a fishing village on the Ligurian Sea just south of Genoa. Patricia's family had come from there many years ago, but even if we had not had this connection, it was a great place--vari-colored houses and shops, a beautiful church, and ristoranti where they really know how to prepare seafood. We stayed at a pensione, Albergo La Camogliese (www.lacamogliese.it) We enjoyed chatting with other guests from all over the world at breakfast and tea-time. Mario Laneri, the manager, got interested in Pat's quest for family, and even translated a letter of introduction for her. La Camogliese is just a long stairway below the train station and a leisurely promenade from the beach. Camogli is on the Portofino Promontorio and about an hour by milk train from Cinque Terre. Overall Rating : Outstanding Natalie Komacek Pittsburgh, PA If you are looking for the true Italian experience, we think the apartment on Via della Vetrina is excellent! This apartment is in the heart of Rome, right off the Via Coronari and the most beautiful piazzas and streets in Rome. Just steps from antique shops that hold treasures of a lifetime, bistros filled with the best espresso and pastries, the Vetrina is located centrally to many wonderful and historic sites. Each morning, amidst the chatter of the locals, we could walk to most sites or catch a cab at the corner. Mauro Sacchetta Cali, the manager of the apartment, was wonderful! He made sure our stay went smoothly and was an excellent contact for all things. If you are looking for an Americanized, chain hotel experience, then this is not for you. This is a very old apartment. However, if you believe, as we do, in not putting a barrier between you and the culture you have come so far to experience, then Via della Vetrina is perfect. Imagine each night in Rome, walking home through the twisting cobblestoned streets, passing magnificent fountains, softly lit shops containing the most beautiful things you have ever seen, and old men perched on stone stoops enjoying the last cigarette of the evening, as you enter the narrow via della Vetrina and unlock the gate to you own ancient villa. This is what the Vetrina is like. Rustic and romantic! We are going back to Rome, and when we do we will be in contact with Mauro to arrange for another true Roman experience. Via della Vetrina to us was la dolce vita!

We enjoyed the character of the brick vaults and found it to be very comfortable and well located. The nearby market is great for stocking the kitchen with treats. The shopping and restaurants in the area are fabulous. The transportation to and from the airport was a welcome comfort. I would stay here again.

Overall Rating : Best Ron Falcione Boston: I am writing this regarding the rental experience we had this past week. My wife and I have been to Italy 6 times in the past 10 years, so we are not neophytes when it comes to traveling to Italy. We have stayed in a variety of accommodations there, from the Danielli in Venice, the Hassler and the Eden in Rome, to an apartment in the country side in Tuscany, among other places. This past week we stayed in an apartment on via San Salvatore, managed by Mauro Sachetta Cali, and his wife Giulia. The experience was wonderful in a variety of ways. The location (near Campo di Fiori), has easy walking access to most of the major sites, and allowed us to experience the true feel of Rome. The restaurants, the small side streets, the open-air market in Campo, and the cooking one nite in our own kitchen, made us feel a bit more local than most tourists do when they visit the Eternal city. The most enjoyable part of our brief stay was the hospitality, the ability and the accessibility of both Mauro and Giulia. Their recommendations, whether it was restaurants or sites, were always on the mark. The pick-up and drop-off to the airport, and the use of a cell phone also made the stay more comfortable. The apartment itself was exactly what we expected, and in an area that gave us a feel of a real residential Roman neighborhood. So if you are looking for a most enjoyable vacation with the added twist of living right in a neighborhood, get in touch with Mauro. I think you will be quite happy with the results.

Rome Apartment We found out about Mauro Sacchetta Cali (http://www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it) on this site and all the positive things about him are true. We just stayed for a week at an apartment near Campo de Fiori and had a great week. Getting a ride to and from the airport was a huge benefit for our family of four. He was very helpful and welcomed us to contact him at anytime during the week if we needed to, which was nice with two younger children. Luckily we didn't have to but it was nice to feel like we had someone in case we needed anything. We will absolutely be renting an apartment through him again for our next visit to Rome. We had a wonderful weeklong stay in an apartment on via del Pellegrino in Rome. The apartment was perfect for us. It had plenty of room, was nicely furnished, and had all the amenities we might want. The location near the Campo de' Fiori is great. We visited the market in the Campo every morning and were within easy walking distance to virtually all of the sights in Rome, as well as countless restaurants and shops. We found the neighborhood to be very friendly and interesting to explore. Our initial contact via the underground viaggi web site was very easy. We were pleased with the friendly and prompt attention we received from its manager, Mauro. He responded to our email queries quickly and helpfully. He speaks (and writes) English well. The whole process of reserving the apartment went very smoothly. Once we arrived, we were particularly impressed with Mauro. He was extraordinarily friendly and helpful, in fact far beyond what we would have expected. This was our fourth visit to Italy (second visit to Rome) and our experience working with Mauro was as good as any we've had. My family of five (children 14, 11 and 9) returned from a wonderful trip to Italy and I wanted to share a few highlights from the trip as Fodorites were so helpful to us in planning our trip. We left May 30 and flew into FCO-- which incidentally is a long way from the tourist sites in Rome. We were fortunate to have booked our apartment through Mauro (email at mauro@team-shock.it) and were so happy to see his smiling face and placard at the baggage claim! Mauro was an excellent reference point for us in Rome (I believe I sourced Mauro from someone else on Fodor's talk) and a real gentleman that offers exceptional service at a good value. He picked us up and dropped us back at the airport between our stay at our lovely apartment at via del pellegrino 81. The drive to the apt. was peppered with interesting insights about Rome. The link for the apartment is Http://www.consult-italia.it/rome_apartments_for_rent.asp?appartamento=013 We paid 680 Euro for 4 nights which included transportation to and from the airport which would have easily been at least 50 Euro each way for the five of us. Also, for five of us-- we would have had to rent two hotel rooms at most locations for quite a bit more so we were very pleased with the accommodations. Mauro also gave us a cell phone that we could use to contact him at any time and we gave it out to family back stateside before we left if they needed to contact us. The apartment we rented was clean and a marvelous location, situated equal distance from the Vatican, Coliseum, and Pantheon. Mauro also was a great source for booking top-notch guides at the Forum, Vatican and for a stroll around Rome that included a church and the Pantheon (Flavia, Fabio and Serena were terrific as all three spoke great English and each had Ph.D's in archeology). The final note on the apartment was that it was two blocks from Campo di Fiori-- a wonderful square filled with excellent restaurants. Our apartment was also less than a block from a local grocery where we stocked up for breakfast, lunch goods and beverages. We had tacked on this four night stay in Rome to a Mediterranean cruise at the last moment so Mauro's help in arranging quality guides was a key positive for us. Our first day we visited the Forum with our guide Flavia. It was a wonderful, hot day in Rome and we spent about 4 hours there before the short walk to Coliseum. The Forum continues to grow as new archaeological teams expand the site through the years. Flavia had herself participated in one of the recent digs which made it more interesting in some respects for our children. We also took in the Capital Line Museum. Flavia left us after an overview of the Coliseum and we were all so thankful to have had her wonderful insights as made our way through the Forum. The coliseum was an hour or hour and a half well spent before venturing back to Campo Fiori for a magnificent family style Italian meal where we split a few appetizers and a few entrees between the five of us. I was prepared for the worse in terms of expense in Rome but the restaurants at Camp Fiori were a decent value for the quality of food with entrees running about $15-18 each. The next morning our guide, Serena met us at the apartment and we set out through a very light drizzle through the side streets of Rome on our way to the unforgettable Pantheon. On the way, we stopped in at a Church to view a wonderful Caravaggio painting that Serena was familiar with. She told the story of the painting in such detail that we were all captivated by the nuances she explained. Then we wandered through "story filled" streets with our guide to the famous Pantheon-- an amazing precursor of the basilica-styled churches and an astronomical wonder. After a tour at the Pantheon, Serena walked us to Trevi Fountain at which we through a few coins before heading back to the apartment for lunch. After a quick lunch we headed over to the Vatican to meet our guide Fabio a guide that was second to none. Fabio knew the Vatican inside out and spoke perfect English. The Raphael room was a highlight for sure but the entire tour was unbelievable. Fabio was patient enough with our children but also had an amazing knowledge of the art works and history that could keep my wife and I on our toes. We ended the tour with a walk through St. Peters where we had worshipped the previous Sunday before walking out through the square and bidding Fabio farewell. The next morning we got up intending to try to get in stand bye at the Borghese Gallery. Unfortunately, the Gallery was closed due to Independence Day celebrations in Rome. We walked through the lovely grounds and wandered our way to Villa Medici, which was also closed due to the French Ambassador's luncheon there later that day. The good news is that we were not far from the Spanish Steps and the Trinity Church. We took in both before a nice luncheon at the bottom of the stairs. From there we grabbed the Metro and stopped a few stops later at St. Mary Marjorie Church, which had amazing art and sculptures. After the church, we grabbed a bus out of the city to the Catacombs and the Apian Way. The catacombs were interesting and it was nice to take in a bit of the Roman countryside on the Apian Way the original road in and out of Rome-before returning back to the center city and our apartment. The next morning Mauro was at our apartment in plenty of time for us to make the flight from FCO to Athens where we caught our cruise. It was a short stay in Rome-- but absolutely packed with beauty and fun.

Nancy Bennett Huntsville, AL USA 02/23/02 Great family accomodation in Rome Four of us stayed at an immaculately clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced apartment in the heart of Rome (Piazza Navona). We all give our Highest Recommendation to the apartment manager, Mauro Sacchetta Cali. He went above and beyond the call of duty to be helpful to us. He provides transportation to and from the airport or train stations. He even purchased train tickets to Florence for us and brought them with him when he came to pick us up to take us to the station. I don't believe we could have found a better contact in Rome than Mauro. If we plan another trip to Rome, he'll be the first person we get in touch with!

Maureen Williams Costa Mesa, ca USA 05/07/02 Rome apartment My husband and I stayed in a wonderful apartment near Piazza Navona in Rome. The apartment was on a small street close to some terrific restaurants, grocery store, etc. There was an outdoor market right below us. The location was perfect. We found this on the internet and we dealt with Mauro Saccetti. He picked us up from the airport and dropped us off and loaned us a cell phone. He was extremely helpful and very professional. We couldn't recommend it high enough. He even secured us a room in a farmhouse near Florence on the busy Easter weekend. The woman who owns it, Graziella, was a wonderful hostess, directing us to some great restaurants in the Tuscan hills. She is a lovely woman and we can't wait to go Back!

Keith Davis, CA USA 12/26/03 Rome apartment We stayed 1 week at the 3rd floor apartment on Reginella in the Jewish Ghetto. The apartment was in an incredibly convenient location close to Campo de'Fiori and a few minutes walking from Piazza Navona and Piazza Argentina. We did not rent a car nor ride any public transport. Admittedly, we do very much enjoy walking but there are many attractions within a few minutes of the apartment. I cannot say enough about Mauro. We were picked up and dropped off at the airport in a very timely manner. Mauro was always willing to help in any way possible. We have traveled Europe several times but was with a friend who had never been out of the US. He called (bugged?) Mauro several times for advice and information on the cell phone provided. If safety is a concern, particularly a break-in, then this apartment is definately for you. I do remodeling and was impressed with the security of the complex entrance door as well as the door to our apartment. Also, the building has been remodeled in the past few years with great attention to comfort, but preserving the old timbers inside. I had a great feeling of being in the center of Rome and experiencing it more as a local and less as a tourist. We ate most meals in the apartment. The small kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom clean and modern with a new washing machine. There is a TV but we did not turn it on all week. It was a wonderful experience.

Fantastic Apartment in Central Rome Ive just returned with my boyfriend from a wonderful 4 night break in Rome, what particulary made it special was the apartment i stayed in close to the Piazza Navona and Trastevere district. We were collected from the airport by our letting agent "Mauro" who took us by car to a beautiful, well equipped 2 bed apartment (One double bed - 2 singles) - the furniture was very tasteful and the apartment also included all the modern appliances needed including great bathroom, washing machine, well equipped kitchen, hairdryer, aircon etc. It was very central with a spar shop around the corner and resturants and shops 2 streets away. There was coffee, toilet rolls, washing powder etc upon our arrival which took out the stress of having to go and get supplies as soon as we arrived. Mauro also took us to the airport for our return flight which took out all of the hassle of rushing around before an early departure. He was very helpful on advice with attractions and resturants etc and we were able to contact him anytime with questions we had. Chichkov's family We spent 2 wonderful weeks in Rome, in the Via della Reginella 2 appartment. The place is renovated and is very nice and neat. Mauro is excellent. The service was beyond our expectations. We got everything that we were promised to get. The location in great. Nearby are very reasonable coffee shops and restaurants with excellent food and service. Within a short period of time, we felt at home. We can't wait to go to Italy again. There is no doubt that we will call Mauro again. We highly recommend him and his company.

Carolyn Golden St. Joe, MO USA Mon 06/28/2004 Apartment in Rome Myself and 3 friends spent several nights in an apartment just north of Vatican City. (When I say just north, I mean that when we opened up the double doors in the living room, our view was the dome of St. Peter's basilica.) In addition to the view, the location was great, close to the metro, markets, several places to eat. Mauro Sacchetta Cali, the agent who helped us arrange the stay, was very helpful, and picked us up at the airport upon our arrival. The apartment wasn't air conditioned, but this time of year, it wasn't a problem (there are also air conditioned apartments for those who want it). We were given a cell phone for our use during our stay; the space in the apartment was abundant (two bedrooms with much storage space, living room, kitchen, utility room). Any questions, just email. Judi Lake City, FL USA 02/26/2006 Have to add my hurrahs for Mauro Sacchetta Cali and www.rome-apartments-for-rent.it Researched a bit about apartment rentals at this site and on a few others, and have not regretted signing up with Mauro. This was my first time to stay outside a hotel, but it certainly won't be my last. He answered all our emails and phone calls promptly, speaks excellent English, and has a kindness and genuine interest in his clients. I wasn't too sure how everyone could say they feel like they have a friend in Rome, but that is indeed how it feels. Two of us stayed at the Malpasso apartment, central to (within 20 mins walk of) Trastevere, Vatican City, Piazza Navona, the Jewish Ghetto, and the base of the staircase to the Gianicolo. 7 mins to Campo dei Fiori and 3 mins to a main thoroughfare of Corso Vittorio Emmanuele II. We stayed 7 nights straddling the last week of October and the first week of November 2005. Mauro even provided a second key (guess most groups only ask for one) which allowed my companion and I to not be attached at the hip. Mauro not only picked us up from the train station upon our arrival, but dropped us off at Fiumicino -- at 3:30AM. Now that's service. And he wouldn't let us tip him, so I am hoping to spread the good word about this guy and his company. I've already asked him to reserve another apartment for the fall of 2007, this time much bigger as there may be eight of us. The apartment was home for me during my stay. I didn't think of it as a hotel, just a furnished apartment, and I reveled in it. You know, I followed Rick Steves' TV shows for years before I could even think of going to Italy, but having this apartment, and moving and living amongst the locals, it doesn't get any closer to the ETBD philosophy.

Apartment rental in Rome- Campo dei fioriMy parents and I rented an apartment in Rome the last few days of May and into the first week of June 2007. We stayed in the Malpasso Apt (ground floor) run by Mauro from http://www.consult-italia.it This is a great location! minutes from Campo dei fiori, short walk to Piazza Navona.Mauro (apt. manager) was wonderful, picked us up from the airport and took us to the train station on the last day. This apartment is as it looks on the website.The only surprise was the short ceiling up in the loft where the bed is.You definitely need to bend a little up there. The bed was very comfortable.There is a sofa bed down below in the living room.The only seating is the couch and two dining chairs.We used the grocery store across the little square almost everyday, they were very friendly and Mauro made sure we knew the hours they kept, etc.. Again you can't beat this location, we literally walked everywhere. Very local feel, not touristy (except for us!) I highly recommend this rental agency, hopefully my husband and I will be going together next time and I hope to rent from Mauro again. Wendy Richland, WA USA 10/03/2007
